Sinclair Merger Danger!!

The Pew Research Center has run studies showing that 30 percent of households get their news from local broadcasts, with 22% having "a lot" of trust in local news organizations, compared to 18 percent who trust national outlets.

Sinclair, an alt-right media company, which owns 170 local TV stations, is in the process of purchasing Tribune media, which will give them another 42 stations. If this consolidation goes through, Sinclair will be able to reach 72% of all households through local stations magnifying The Fox Effect geometrically.
(For example, In St. Louis alone, Sinclair already owns KDML Channel 30 an ABC affiliate. In St. Louis, Tribune Media owns KTBI Channel 2, a Fox affiliate, and KPLR Channel 11. These will all become Sinclair stations.)

This is what a Sinclair station would look like:  (DeadSpin) This programming is a “Must Run,” but there other “Must Runs”. Mark Hyman and Boris Epshteyn (A former Trump advisor), The Allman Report, hosted by Jamie Allman, a local conservative radio host, and The Terrorism Alert Desk.

Sinclair Cheats!

Just before Sinclair announced the merger with Tribune, a move that would give Sinclair a control of 42 additional stations in major markets like New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C., the FCC reinstated a loop hole allowing Sinclair to undercount the households it reached in order to keep its scope under the threshold of 39% of the nations homes.

Also, in order to get their numbers down, they are selling some of their stations to Fox.

Dear Editor:

I would like to bring to your attention a concern many of us have regarding the impending merger of Sinclair and Tribune Media.

Sinclair the alt-right media company owns 170 local TV stations. If it is allowed to purchase Tribune Media’s 42 stations it will be able to reach 72% of all households with unchecked propaganda magnifying The Fox Effect geometrically.

The Pew Research Center has run studies showing that 30 percent of households get their news from local broadcasts, with 22% having "a lot" of trust in local news organizations, compared to 18 percent who trust national outlets.

We’re sure you have seen the “Must Run” programing/propaganda these stations are forced to run. If this merger proceeds, democracy does not stand a chance. It is your duty as a member of the Fourth Estate to publicize this danger and come out against it in the strongest of terms.

As readers/listeners of your publication we are relying on you.

Thank you,
