Losing a friend to Trumpism

Billi, California (9/7/2021)

I met an attorney during the 2010 financial crisis due to a lawsuit I had with Well Fargo Bank regrading my MBS loan. He was kind, compassionate, and a UC Berkeley Graduate. We became close during the process. He was passionate about helping people in the financial and corrupt crisis the United States was facing. Over the years we have kept in touch.

Gradually I have found this beautiful man to become a different person. He had always voted as a Democrat, and although he wasn't as liberal as I, I knew he had a big heart and I fell in Love with him. Once he started watching Fox News, I realized the change that was taking place deep within him. There was no reasoning. A well educated attorney, spewing the anger and hate of liberals and their causes and what a great man Trump is.

When the insurrection happened he was shocked and felt remorse, but 9 months later he believes the election was stolen from Trump. I am so saddened. I see souls that are being lost. I see the effect Fox News has on a person's brain . These people have become unable to discern truth from lies. It is a form of propaganda and it creates a cult like populace that sadly, has a lot of power with their right to vote. We witnessed on Jan 6 just how dangerous this cult can be.

My heart hurts, not just for my friend, but for this Nation. I have a son and I can only pray we can rise above. That truth will prevail. There is hope in that the white men that are controlling this despicable agenda will be gone. I had heard RBG say before her death, the pendulum always swings back. The words gave me hope.
