My story and the path that needs to be taken to defeat the MAGA/Alt-Right Movement

Alex, California, May 24, 2025

I’m a 31-year old Moderate Left-Leaning Independent Man born and raised in California. So I am going to give my overall opinion.

So watching this documentary was not just sad but it clearly highlighted the path of how we as a society ended up with Trump. Besides Right-Wing Firebrand Radio Hosts, Corporate media such as CNN and especially Fox News has been detrimental to this country.

This is why I listen to mostly Independent news networks & podcasts (ex; MediasTouch). The pandemic and especially the 2024 Presidential election has changed social media. Once META removed the fact checkers and also loosing policies this opened the door for more alt-right content (ex; Tradwife and Conspiracy theories).

For me this is very personal as some of my friends that I have known for years all moderately liberal changed because of this and seeing posts of them celebrating Trump’s win last year has been hard and it took me at least six to seven months to fully process this.

Now to defeat the MAGA/Alt-Right Movement it will involve three things.

1. Combatting the Right-Wing Podcasters and Influencers on Social Media: The way that this can be done is more Independent News Networks (ex; MediasTouch) & Podcasts including Left-Leaning Influencers showing up and challenging their dominance. In rural areas, Right-Wingers dominate the AM Radio Frequency so that also has to be combatted.

2. Getting Big-Money and Billionaires out of politics: Reforming the campaign finance system and overturning Citizens United needs to happen so that billionaires including corporations can be banned from buying elections.

3. Moving away from the Two-Party System, Electoral College, and Winner-Takes-All System: We are literally on our way of becoming a country dominated by just one party that is now controlled by MAGA/Alt-Right; moderates & sane conservatives continue to disappear. If you all have seen the maps of what the electoral college is projected to look like in 2032 let me just say that it’s absolutely frightening especially when I look at Texas and Florida.

There is only one way out which is ditching the Two-Party System, Electoral College, and Winner-Takes-All system that has dominated this country for 163 years and transitioning to a Multi-Party System with Proportional Representation with 7-12 parties elected. It's unhealthy for a country with a population close to 400 million to be dominated by just two parties. Despite differing opinions, it is evident that the time has come for this fundamental shift to take place, marking a pivotal moment for the future and health of this country.
